MEET ELAINE

I have been significantly overweight most of my adult life. I used excess food, and my excess weight, like a drug. It kept me from dealing with a lot of emotional pain, starting with my divorce. It quickly became a big problem I could not change on my own.

Over the years, I tried different diets, gyms, boot camp, self-help books, 12 Step programs for food, and personal trainers – usually with some short-lived success but nothing lasted and the weight would come back on.

By 2011, my weight hit 265 lbs and was climbing fast again. I felt chronically unhealthy; my knees and ankles ached constantly; I walked with a limp; I was out of breath climbing stairs. I had resigned myself to this kind of life.

I planned a trip that year which would involve lots of walking and climbing. I knew I HAD to try one more time to get in better shape, so I went back to Weight Watchers again. I lost some weight but I knew I needed real help if I was going to make any permanent difference. A friend referred me to Steven Maresca.

When I first walked into Steven’s studio, I felt there was GREAT potential for looking and feeling foolish. He never let me feel that way. He was always more than encouraging and motivating. He actually made it FUN to be there.

He is really great at adapting any exercise to your strengths, weaknesses and goals. No excuses. He mixes up the workouts every day so you never know what challenge is coming – free weights, spinning, interval training, rowing or my personal favorite – boxing and speed bag work!

I have trained with Steven consistently since my first workout with him in 2011. My health and fitness have drastically improved, and I have maintained a healthy weight. I am forever grateful for the positive impact Steven has made in my life.
